2009 Spring Gala was held on March 13th at the National Building Museum, celebrating the country of Peru ~ Experience the Exotic. Elmer Huerta, M.D., MPH, National President of the American Cancer Society and Foundation board member, was honored as our 2009 Cancer Champion.
The Prevent Cancer Foundation Annual Spring Gala is widely recognized as one of Washington’s premier events, attracting more than 1,000 guests from the business, diplomatic, government, medical, sports, media and social communities. Proceeds from the event support the Prevent Cancer Foundation 21st Century Young Scientists Fund for research grants and fellowships and programs. The 2009 gala was held under the honorary patronage of His Excellency the Ambassador of Peru, Félipe Ortiz de Zavallos.
Since 1994, the gala has raised over $15 million to support cancer research and direct service programs in underserved communities.
BIZBASH Washington has recently recognized the Prevent Cancer Foundation’s Annual Spring Gala as one of the Top 100 “must attend” charity events in Washington, DC!
