Event Logistics

Questions on any of the following topics can be answered by contacting Adrienne Harkness at adrienne.harkness@preventcancer.org.

Will I have to set up and take down the Prevent Cancer Super Colon®?
The Prevent Cancer Super Colon® takes approximately 2 hours to set up and 2 hours to break down. The Prevent Cancer Foundation employs Blue Ridge AV to accompany the exhibit for assembly (set up and take down), logistics and troubleshooting. BRAV will work directly with the interested organization on all logistics associated with the exhibit.

How does the Prevent Cancer Super Colon® come delivered?
The Prevent Cancer Super Colon® is contained in one rolling case (3.5-ft x 4.5-ft x 4-ft) that weights about 450 lbs. It fits through double doors with no center bar, or can be off loaded at a loading dock. It cannot do stairs. Delivery will be in a 26-ft straight truck. In many cases the freight case containing the colon will be delivered to the site the day before set-up and the technician will arrive at a predetermined time; this timing will be confirmed about one week prior to your event when shipping can be confirmed.

How much space do I need for the Prevent Cancer Super Colon®?
The Prevent Cancer Super Colon® is free standing, sits in a “U” shape and sits 8-ft tall (outside height; inside height 5.5-ft – 6.0-ft) and the walk through is 20-ft long (the horseshoe shape cannot be altered). The exhibit has an attached floor, but must have a dry, smooth and even base to rest on. When looking at the exhibit, the front of it is 24-ft wide and it is 17-ft deep. However, the colon has an additional 7-ft hose off the back where a blower attaches to the colon to keep it inflated. Therefore, it requires a minimum space of 25′ X 25′. — We suggest, for optimum showcasing, a space of 30ft x 30ft – this size area will account room for signage, a table and space for people to walk in and out.

Does the Prevent Cancer Super Colon® need electricity?
The Prevent Cancer Super Colon® requires a 15 AMP plug — which is a standard plug. This source of electricity needs to be within several feet of the colon, since the blower needs to plug in to inflate the colon. Extension cords must be less than 75-ft or the blower will burn out. The sound signature of the exhibit is about the same as a hair dryer on high and it runs continuously. (If outside, see below.)

Does the Prevent Cancer Super Colon® come with a table for material placement?
Please provide two chairs for people staffing the exhibit. The exhibit comes with a table for material distribution.

Is the Prevent Cancer Super Colon®
 handicap accessible?
The exhibit is wheel chair, stroller and motorized scooter accessible.

Outdoor Logistics
Yes, it can be outside. But, we require that each company/organization provide a tent (without center poles) and electricity. The exhibit has an attached floor, but must have a dry, smooth and even base to rest on.

Tent: You are responsible for securing a tent and for absorbing the related costs. Please do so at least 2 weeks prior to your event. The exhibit is not weighted and therefore has a very low wind shear. If the exhibit is exposed to extreme wind, we reserve the right to deflate the colon and close the exhibit. The ideal tent for the Prevent Cancer Super Colon® would stand 30′ X 30′ with at least three full sides and a minimum 8-ft interior height clearance (no center poles). The colon has a 7-ft hose off the back where a blower attaches to the colon to keep it inflated. This blower must be under the tent. The tent must be set-up before the Prevent Cancer Super Colon® can be set-up.

Electricity: If outside, we require that each company/organization provide a 2,000 watt or greater generator to power the blower to inflate the exhibit. Please do so at least 2 weeks prior to your event. Extension cords must be less than 25-ft or the blower will burn out.
