Authors Jeff Wolf, Ken Blanchard, and Stephen Covey Stress Valuable Lessons in Decision-Making, Effective Communications and Maintaining a Healthy Work-Life Balance
ALEXANDRIA, VA — The Prevent Cancer Foundation will receive 20 percent of the proceeds from the sale of a new book on leadership, titled Roadmap to Success: America’s Top Intellectual Minds Map Out Successful Business Strategies (Insight Publishing, 2008). Author Jeff Wolf, who lost his father to cancer, and whose mother survived it, was looking for a way to “give back” and decided to partner with the Foundation to support the mission of cancer prevention and early detection through research, education and community outreach to all populations, including children and the underserved.
“I wanted to do something in my father’s memory. He died of liver cancer four years ago,” he explains. “This is an opportunity to fight this dreaded disease that takes so many lives. Anything we can do to eradicate it is well worth the effort. The name of my book is Roadmap to Success. That title rings true in health as well. Go get periodic check-ups, follow the different preventative measures. You can catch cancer at its most early stages.”
“We applaud Mr. Wolf for shining the spotlight on the importance of carving out a healthy work-life balance. It isn’t always easy to do, or top of mind, in our fast-paced world,” comments Jan Bresch Mahrer, executive vice president and chief operating officer of the Foundation. “We are delighted to be able to partner with Mr. Wolf in this fruitful cause-marketing effort. Readers will not only be able to empower themselves to become better leaders with Roadmap to Success, they’ll be helping to support our ongoing battle against cancer, specifically in raising awareness of risk reduction and early detection.”
Since 1985, the Prevent Cancer Foundation has spent more than $106 million on the funding of cutting-edge cancer prevention research, education and community outreach efforts — creating awareness that there are choices you can make on a daily basis that will reduce your risk for cancer. Only five percent of cancers are hereditary which means you do have the power to do something about it: eat well, be active, don’t smoke, and get screened.
Wolf’s new book actually shares the wisdom of three renowned business minds. In a unique question-and-answer format, Ken Blanchard (The One Minute Manager), Stephen Covey (The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People) and Jeff Wolf (The Essence of Effective Leadership, to be published in winter 2008) address the major concerns on managers’ and leaders’ minds, covering topics that range from the importance of listening and ongoing coaching to true definitions of success and survival in a multigenerational workplace. The short narrative’s purpose is to empower you to create your own roadmap to success. It serves as a mini-seminar in an easy-to-digest format. “In this book, we discuss what you can do to become more successful in any area of leadership in your life. This book helps you to examine where you’re at and how to improve it,” states Wolf. “Ultimately, this book challenges you to become a better leader: how to get your vision out there as soon as possible, make sure you’re able to communicate your vision effectively, and motivate others to accomplish it.”
