On July 20, Prevent Cancer Foundation participated in a Capitol Hill educational event to raise awareness about the Breakaway from Cancer campaign.  The educational meeting targeted  Members of Congress and Congressional staff to share information about resources available through the campaign partners, that can assist them and their constituents in navigating issues ranging across the spectrum of cancer prevention and care.

During the event, Prevent Cancer Foundation staff talked with guests about programs and resources offered by our organization to help empower individuals with tools to reduce their risk for developing cancer or to detect their cancer early.  Featured speakers included House Cancer Caucus Co-Chair Congresswoman Lois Capps (CA-23) and Congressional staffer Daniel Holt.

Breakaway from Cancer is a national campaign that educates individuals about resources available to them spanning prevention through survivorship.  Campaign partners include Prevent Cancer Foundation, the Cancer Support Community, the Patient Advocate Foundation, the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship, and campaign sponsor Amgen.

Breakaway from Cancer conducts educational events across the country, including a major presence at the Amgen Tour of California, LiveStrong Rides and the Dempsey Challenge, and most recently, by hosting a policy panel at the annual meeting of the American Society for Clinical Oncology.
