Pick smart, feel good: A March Madness challenge

Published on March 14, 2019

Bring on the Madness! Selection Sunday is just a few days away and we are gearing up to root on our favorite teams in March Madness. Whether or not your team is going dancing, you still have something to cheer for when your pool doubles as fundraiser for your favorite charity.

Who will be this year’s Cinderella story? Will Gonzaga finally win the national championship? Is Zion Williamson really the next Lebron? We’ll be glued to our TVs from Selection Sunday to the championship game to watch the action unfold.

As you’re building your brackets, keep it interesting and add in a charity component. Here’s some ways you can fundraise while you play to Stop Cancer Before It Starts!®

  • Set aside a portion of your buy-in fee to serve as a donation. For example, if everyone pays $20 to get into your pool, consider donating $5 of every bracket. Even a little bit goes a long way!
  • Split the pot 50/50 so the winner gets half and the other half is donated. Victory will taste even sweeter when you know half of the winnings will go towards saving lives through cancer prevention and early detection.
  • Have the losers from each round donate to charity. Losing doesn’t have to feel bad—lift your unlucky friends’ spirits by setting a rule that losers donate $5 to charity.

Want to start a March Madness fundraiser with your friends, family or colleagues? You can create a fundraiser for your pool on Facebook or submit your team’s donations on our website. Your support goes a long way in the fight against cancer!

May your picks bring you success and your brackets remain unbusted!
