Orlando, Fl. — The week-long 24-hour speedrunning marathon, Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ), concluded on January 12 raising a total of $3.13 million, the most in its 10-year history, for the Prevent Cancer Foundation®.

Each year, AGDQ live-streams hundreds of speedrunners attempting to beat video games as quickly as possible – a task that requires high levels of skill, planning and precision. This year’s event hosted thousands of people attending in person and hundreds of thousands tuning in online through Twitch.

The gaming community showed their support by donating to the Prevent Cancer Foundation throughout the week. This year’s event broke records for organizers, collecting more than 54,000 donations from more than 80 different countries.

In its nine years supporting the Prevent Cancer Foundation®, AGDQ has raised more than $14.4 million to fund research, technology and community grants both in the U.S. and internationally, as well as cancer prevention and early detection education and outreach.

“It has been a tremendous honor to be a part of the growth of the Games Done Quick community. With their support, the Foundation is able to fund life-saving grants and education in cancer prevention and early detection,” said Jody Hoyos, Executive Vice President of the Prevent Cancer Foundation. “We congratulate GDQ, the participants, and volunteers for the record-breaking success of AGDQ this year and the 10-year anniversary of GDQ.  Attending AGDQ in-person as the donation record was broken, hearing the shouts of joy and seeing the tears of pride, was one of the highlights of my life. The impact of this community’s dedication towards gaming for good will have a positive impact on people for decades to come.”
