Washington, D.C. – The Prevent Cancer Foundation raised over $2.2 million at its annual Gala on September 15. This is the most the event has raised in its 28-year history. Funds from the Gala will benefit cancer prevention and early detection efforts spearheaded by the Foundation, the only U.S. nonprofit organization solely dedicated to cancer prevention and early detection.

The 2022 Gala welcomed guests in-person at the National Building Museum in the District of Columbia. In its tradition of honoring a country that shares its commitment to fighting cancer, the Foundation paid homage to Australia with the Gala theme, Bounding Ahead. The Foundation honored His Excellency, Ambassador Arthur Sinodinos AO and Mrs. Elizabeth Sinodinos, both of whom were in attendance. Ambassador Sinodinos spoke during the programmatic portion of the evening, touching upon his personal experience with cancer and how it has shaped the way he works with the community and those battling cancer in Australia.

Other highlights of the evening included cancer survivor, Foundation board member and FOX News Channel’s chief national security correspondent Jennifer Griffin as master of ceremonies, remarks from presenting sponsor GRAIL’s President and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Joshua Ofman, and the annual Lighting the Way to Prevention drive, which featured auctioneers Ted Okon, Gala co-chair and executive director of the Community Oncology Alliance and Tommy McFLY, NBC4’s SCENE Correspondent and host of “Walk a Mile with Tommy McFLY.”

The Foundation presented the annual Cancer Champion Award for significant contributions in cancer prevention and other cancer-related issues to Senators Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) and Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) and Representatives Terri Sewell (D-Ala.), Jodey Arrington (R-Texas), Raul Ruiz (D-Calif.) and Richard Hudson (R-N.C.). This bipartisan group was recognized for their leadership on the Medicare Multi-Cancer Early Detection Screening Coverage Act (S.1873 and H.R. 1946).
