Health Equity Statement

The Prevent Cancer Foundation is committed to advancing health equity and improving access for all individuals as part of our vision of a world where cancer is preventable, detectable and beatable for all. We firmly believe that everyone deserves an equal opportunity to stay ahead of cancer through prevention and early detection.

Today, those equal opportunities are too often denied in the U.S. and around the world, where systems of oppression disproportionately impact people based on the color of their skin, level of education, gender identity, sexual orientation, occupation, the neighborhood they live in and whether they have a disability. Detecting cancer early can increase treatment options and improve chances of survival. Cancer screening rates are higher in people with inadequate access to health care services due to financial, geographical and logistical barriers including (but not limited to) racial and ethnic minority groups, residents of rural areas and the LGBTQ+ community.

The Foundation works to reduce cancer disparities through research, education, outreach and advocacy. Additionally, we support community partners to reach medically underserved communities and fund innovative research that could lead to the next breakthrough in cancer prevention and early detection. We strive to:

  • Raise awareness
  • Improve access
  • Promote equity in research
  • Collaborate and empower
  • Advocate for change

Achieving health equity is a long-term endeavor that requires ongoing commitment and collaboration. The Prevent Cancer Foundation remains dedicated to advancing health equity as a fundamental component of our mission. Together, we can create a world where cancer is preventable, detectable and beatable for all.
