Dr. Susan Steck received research funding from the Prevent Cancer Foundation® Research Program in 2003 for a fellowship while at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill and in 2014 for a grant while at the University of South Carolina. She examined the “Dietary and Inflammatory Index” and concluded that consuming a more plant-based and nutrient-dense diet may reduce chronic inflammation and the risk of certain cancers.
