Bob Dole, Republicans’ 1996 presidential nominee, has advanced lung cancer.
THURSDAY, February 18, 2021 (The New York Times)—Bob Dole, the former senator and 1996 Republican presidential nominee, announced on Thursday that he had advanced lung cancer.
“Recently, I was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer,” Mr. Dole said in a statement. “My first treatment will begin on Monday. While I certainly have some hurdles ahead, I also know that I join millions of Americans who face significant health challenges of their own.”

Prevent Cancer Foundation awards nine new research grants
The Prevent Cancer Foundation is pleased to announce funding for nine scientists who are researching cancer prevention and early detection. Each scientist is being awarded $100,000 for two years. Areas of focus include the pancreas, esophagus, liver, lungs, skin, prostate, colon-rectum, and blood/bone marrow. Learn more.
