Skin Cancer Awareness Month

May 1, 2023 - May 31, 2023

Skin cancer may be the most common cancer diagnosis in the U.S., but did you know it’s also one of the most preventable?

There are so many simple habits you can pick up to reduce your risk of skin cancer or catch it early—which can mean less extensive treatment, more treatment options and better chances of survival. Stay skin healthy by:

  • Checking your skin once a month with the ABCDE rule.
  • Having your health care provider examine your skin every year. (Along with getting your other routine cancer screenings!)
  • Wearing sunscreen that offers broad spectrum protection and at least 30 SPF.
  • Avoiding tanning beds or sun lamps.
  • Learning your risk factors and additional ways to reduce your risk.

Make it a priority to protect your skin not just during Skin Cancer Awareness Month or this summer, but all year long. Join our mission by sharing your tips and using #SkinCancerAwarenessMonth to show others how you #StaySkinHealthy.

Did you know?

According to a recent survey from the Prevent Cancer Foundation, 70% of Americans 21 years of age and older have not had a skin check in the past year.
