2019 was an incredible year for cancer prevention.
Before we begin a new decade, we wanted to look back, share some of our highlights from this year and celebrate the extraordinary things our supporters have allowed us to do:
January: WTOP interview with Foundation Founder and CEO Carolyn Aldigé and Vice Chairman Dr. Jim Mulshine spreads cancer prevention and early detection awareness.

February: Research grantee, Victoria Seewaldt, M.D., shares updates on her latest project she hopes will save lives by preventing breast cancer.
March: Too Young For This Sh*t campaign is released, spreading awareness about the rise of colorectal cancer in younger adults.
April: The Prevent Cancer Dialogue draws hundreds from throughout the country to share the latest research and recognize cancer prevention progress.
May: The 26th Annual Spring Gala honors Senators Bill Cassidy and Mazie Hirono. The event raised a total of $1.5 million for cancer prevention and was named in BizBash’s list of Washington’s Top 100 Events 2019.
June: Congressional briefing with leaders in cancer research spreads awareness on issues surrounding HPV-related cancers in the United States and around the world.
July: The Prevent Cancer Super Colon goes to the Saginaw Chippewa Powwow in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.
August: PreventGEN initiative is launched. 13 young professionals are selected to join the PreventGEN committee to provide perspective of younger generations on cancer prevention and early detection.
September: 27th Annual Congressional Families Luncheon honors Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Patrick Dempsey, Amanda Soto and LeeAnn Johnson.
October: Quantitative Imaging Workshop VXI honors Andrew C. von Eschenbach, M.D. with the James L. Mulshine, M.D. Leadership Award for his work leading the National Lung Screening Trial (NLST), the first large-scale clinical trial for low-dose CT lung cancer screening.
November: Over 800 attend the Prevent Cancer Health Fair & 5k for the morning run and afternoon health fair. The event recognized Fox News reporter and cancer survivor, Jennifer Griffin, for her commitment to cancer prevention.
December: Actor and two-time cancer survivor, Ernie Hudson, is announced as the national spokesperson for the Think About The Link campaign.
